At What fat percent will you eat ground beef

    Sorry for the confusing title.

Basically, whats the highest fat percent in ground beef will you guys eat? I goto the store sometimes they have 96/4 sometimes 93/7 and sometimes 90/10. Do you still consider 90/10 ground beef to be an acceptable source of lean protein on a cutting diet?*

*basically my mom bought a huge thing of 90/10 and Id rather save some $ and not have to go buy 93/7 until this stuff runs out....

90/10 isnt that bad just dont go overboard on the portions. If your really worried about the fat in it brown it up in a pan then put it in a strainer and rinse it under your faucet. This will wash away some extra fat that may be on the meat due to cooking etc.

i always get 96/4 since im cutting right now if i was maintaining or bulking i might get a little less lean like 93/7 because its usually quite a bit cheaper for some reason

93% - just be sure to drain off the fat as it is cooking, then put a paper towel in a bowl and pour the already drained beef into the bowl. Let the paper towel soak up any excess fat and then eat. Simple.

If it is an open grill some of the fat will drip off anyway so don't wash it...lol.
I use 93/7 but would use 90/10 if I had no other option. Have you tried lean ground turkey meat? I bought some the other day, same price as ground beef. 99% ff, 1 gram of fat, 28 g protein per serving. Don't remember exact serving size. Tastes very similar, especially if eaten with other foods, like cheese or w/ peppers and onions in it.

Actually, if you put a few drops of dish detergent in some water, mix it up, and then pour this over the ground beef before you rinse it under the faucet, you'll remove even more fat.

    Joking.

What is crazy about rinsing the meat after it has been cooked? I do this when I am going to make spaghetti or tacos. I place all seasoning on the meat after it has been washed.

    Beef fat

In their February 2004 issue, Consumer Reports magazine (published by the expert, independent, nonprofit testing organization of Consumers Union) gave its findings on the calories and fat content of ground beef compared to some other meats.

"When it comes to nutrition, youre apt to hear beefs about beef, but you can limit its calories and fat by choosing wisely. Ground beef labeled 95 percent lean and leaner steaks such as top sirloin are lower in calories and fat than some other cuts and grinds. In fact, 95 percent lean ground beef has fewer calories and less fat per serving than boneless, skinless dark-meat chicken. Figures below are for 3 ounces, the USDAs serving size. Limiting yourself to that portion (about as big as a deck of cards) can be hard--another reason to eat leaner meat.

Calories and fat content per 3 oz., cooked

    Ground beef, 95% lean Calories = 150 Total fat grams = 6 Saturated fat grams = 3
Top sirloin Calories = 190 Total fat grams = 9 Saturated fat grams = 3
    Ground beef, 85% lean Calories = 210 Total fat grams = 13 Saturated fat grams = 5
    T-bone steak, short loin Calories = 220 Total fat grams = 15 Saturated fat grams = 5
Rib eye, small end Calories = 230 Total fat grams = 14 Saturated fat grams = 6
Chicken breast Calories = 140 Total fat grams = 3 Saturated fat grams = 1
Chicken, dark meat Calories = 170 Total fat grams = 8 Saturated fat grams = 2
